This is a recipe I altered from about.com
1 cup dried black beans 1 cup dried kidney beans 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
1 28 oz can tomato sauce 1/2 onion, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced
2 green bell peppers 1 red or orange bell pepper 2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup vegetable broth 4 tbsp chili powder 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper 2 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp cumin 1/2 cup TVP
- Start boiling some water for your beans just to soften them a bit before adding them to your chili.
- Turn slow cooker on high an add oil
- Chop all your ingredients add to slow cooker along with everything else. Cook on high until beans soften. About 4 to 6 hours.
Hope you enjoy it. If you want to leave out the cayenne to cut down on spice that would work as well also add chili powder to taste. If you use gluten free spices your chili will be as well.
